Open-IX Data Center Standards Committee Chair, Gabe Cole, Will Discuss Managing the Network Edge as well as Openness and Neutrality in the Data Center
CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – November 13, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better global standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces today that Open-IX Data Center Standards Committee Chair, Gabe Cole, will speak at DatacenterDynamics Converged London, taking place November 19-20, 2014 at the ICC ExCel London.
On Day 1 of the conference, Mr. Cole will join other thought-leaders across Open Compute, Open Software, Open Stack and Open-IX on a panel discussion entitled “What Does ‘Open’ Mean for the Enterprise Data Center Sector?” from 4:40 PM – 5:20 PM. On Day 2, Mr. Cole will present “Open-IX – Managing the Network Edge” from 9:20 AM – 10:00 AM. The session will explore the proliferation of content delivery and cloud applications, and the resulting requirement to efficiently and economically transfer traffic amongst different networks. It will also address the role of accessible, consistent and member-governed exchanges in supporting these increased network demands. Additionally, Mr. Cole will discuss the inception and growth of the Open-IX Association, which develops and promotes international standards for data center-based distributed Internet Exchange Points (IXPs).
Open-IX is a non-profit association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception approximately one year ago.
